Description
Perennial 20-70cm tall. Yellow petals with orange to red center.
Locally common at low to mid elevations throughout dry climates, arid basins and open forests.
The Okanagan made a solution from this plant which they drank to alleviate kidney problems.
Common White Yarrow

Description
White flowering native yarrow suitable for dry gardens.
Common Yarrow is an erect herbaceous perennial plant that produces one to several stems (0.2 to 1m tall) and has a rhizomatous growth form.
Common yarrow is a drought tolerant species of which there are several different ornamental cultivars.
Golden Aster

Description
Heterotheca villosa is abundant not only in the foothills and
mountains, but also along roadsides.
It needs little
water, often blooms for three or four months, and has a marvelous spicy-sharp sage aroma. The plant
pictured is about seven inches tall and flowers are about a half inch in
diameter.
"Villosa"
is Latin for "hairy".

Description
Biennial and short lived perennial. 20-100cm tall. 1-several stems showing, brilliant scarlet, showy tube like flowers.
Common in arid climates and in our hot dry basins along undisturbed roadsides, in Ponderosa forests or open Interior Douglas Fir forests.
Shrubby Penstemon

Description
Evergreen perennial shrub grows to 40cm tall. Spreads laterally in clumps. Great for borders and rock gardens. Blue- purple flowers, bell shaped.
Scattered and locally common at low to sub-alpine elevations, on dry, rocky hillsides, cliffs, and open forests.
Silky Lupine

Description
For sun or part shade. Soft blue and white blossoms on 8 inch flower stalk. Plant grows 1-2 feet high. Leaves hairy and silky. Poisonous to livestock.
Scattered at low elevations on Thompson and Okanagan plateaus. Common in dry grasslands and sagebrush flats.
